Nice Ride Minnesota installed three bicycle sharing stations in North Minneapolis in July of last year and will be installing up to eight additional stations this spring as part of its expansion program. Nice Ride’s first year of operation (June to November 2010) was successful, according to Bill Dossett, Nice Ride Minnesota’s executive director. Dossett explained that the Nice Ride system is most cost effective for users when they become annual subscribers. “During our first season, a total of 1,295 annual subscriptions were purchased, and with 65 stations around the city, over 100,000 bike trips were taken.”

Check it out! The Trans Iowa V7 will be held April 23-24 2011. Think of it as a 300+ mile bike race on the scenic gravel backroads of Iowa, starting and finishing in Grinnell, IA. Oh yea, the winner last year did it in 25 hours.
Who wants to join?!?!

Check out these two sweet LED spoke light videos! Quite the pricey set of lights, but BA. Just think of the capability in advertising this could create if it were more economical. Pretty impressive…

Kind of a sweet video from 30 Seconds To Mars. By no means a band that is repeatedly played on my iPod, but a cool video nonetheless. It has some sweet bikes that lead into my next post…

Check out this hand/bike rail in Denmark. It’s located on a little Copenhagen traffic island where cyclists often wait, reports Copenhagenize.com
Copenhagen has implemented this double rail as a convenience for the cyclists who stop here. A hand rail to keep your balance, and then another foot rail to rest your feet, if you wish. The article also mentions that either way, you can use the railing to push off when the light changes.
The foot rest reads, “Hi, cyclist! Rest your foot here… and thank you for cycling in the city.”
