Kudos to the city for putting up orange markers along the bike lane on First Avenue downtown Minneapolis.

Still a ways to go to keep cars completely out of the bike lane and bicyclists tracking with traffic lights, but that is a small step in the right direction.

I Rode downtown last night and there are some recent improvements that are inspiring. The addition of large bike lane markings on the street seems to make a huge difference on Hennepin! This gives the biker confidence to ride in the middle of the lane and is a clear marking to the drivers to show that it is a bike lane. The bike boxes have been put in place, but still need to be colored in with that awesome neon green. Also, there seems to be some much needed work being done on the surface of the First Avenue bike lanes.

Progress is being made. It’s exciting to see things come together, and great to see that there is still a commitment to the bike, and it’s regaining ground downtown.
