On August 5th, 2010 Apple filed a Patent with the US Patent and Trademark Office for “Systems and Methods for Integrating a Portable Electronic Device with a Bicycle.”

The Detailed Description lists some fairly awesome features but it is unclear if this will be a simple iPhone, iPod data integration device or something more robust with an LED for the handle bars plus all of the bells and whistles. They key functionality appears to be the ability to share information on several riders in a group, race etc. on a single devices.
